Otago Peninsula
Dunedin is a city of the south Pacific, with clear blue-green ocean, a score of white sand beaches sheltered by towering cliffs and a quiet landlocked harbour sprinkled with small bush clad islands. The Otago peninsula has a richly diverse population of coastal wildlife, including the northern royal albatross, the worlds rarest penguin, the yellow eyed penguin and shy little blue penguin. An abundance of wading bird species and variety of shags use the coastal bluffs for nests. New Zealand fur seals are seen performing aquabatics in the tidal areas. Sea kayaking with Wild Earth Adventures is an excellent way to view wildlife and spectacular scenery up close.
